Extraction agents are extensively employed in the non-ferrous metal hydrometallurgy sector, including industries like copper, zinc, cobalt-nickel, cadmium, gold and silver, platinum-based metals, rare earth, and others. Extraction agents pertain to the movement of a compound from one solvent to another by leveraging the distinct solubility or distribution coefficients of the compound in two immiscible (or slightly soluble) solvents.

After repeated extraction, the vast majority of compounds were extracted. It is the main raw material for the unit operation of separating mixtures by utilizing the different solubility of components in solvents in the system.

China has abundant rare earth resources, accounting for 40% of the world's reserves. Rare earth, as an emerging industry, has an increasingly wide range of applications. Extraction agent, as the main raw material for rare earth product production, has also been widely used. At present, the production and application of P507 extraction agent in China have also gone through a development process of more than ten years with the application of rare earths. Especially after the 2011 rare earth market, rare earth enterprises emerged like mushrooms after rain, promoting the rapid development of the rare earth industry.

The increasing demand in the fields of military, alloy materials, energy-saving batteries, and mobile phones has led to the development of high purification of rare earth products, resulting in an increasing amount of extraction agent.
